The Eisteddfod and the Arts Board’s recent decisions

Fixed Time Rule – the following was decided:

• Up to 30 seconds = no penalty
• 30 seconds – 1 minute = 5 marks deducted
• 1 minute – 2 minutes = 10 marks deducted
• 2 minutes – 3 minutes = 15 marks deducted

This rule will be operational during the 2010 Eisteddfod.

Competing in the Eisteddfodau Cylch (Local Eisteddfod)

Following a meeting of the Eisteddfod and the Arts Board, and the Urdd National Council, it was decided that:

we permit schools, if they desire, to continue to hold a school eisteddfod, and to send representatives to the Eisteddfod Gylch, but that we also permit every member of the Urdd to compete in the Eisteddfod Gylch if that is the wish of the member or parent. We also encourage leaders and teachers to ensure that every competitor attending the Eisteddfod Gylch is able to perform the piece/task in question.

So to re-iterate, every member of the Urdd is entitled to compete within their age-specific categories in Eisteddfod yr Urdd and local Eisteddfod Gylch competitions. If you would like more information regarding the above, please contact your local Development Officer (details can be found under Your Area on www.urdd.org) or contact the Eisteddfod yr Urdd office.
